Spring Forward: Explore Majors, Internships, and Jobs

As we approach the finish line of winter quarter, now is the perfect time to start exploring internships, jobs, and opportunities within your major for the summer or next school year.

Thinking about getting a job next year? Considering a summer internship? Want to dive deeper into opportunities within your major? With spring quarter just around the corner, it's time to start planning ahead—and we’ve got your back!

From finding the right internship to exploring career paths that align with your major, we’re sharing tips to help you navigate your search and take your next steps with confidence. Here are some answers to common questions you might have:

“I like my major, but what can I do with it?”

  • Reach out to professors—many are happy to share their personal experiences and inform you about current opportunities within your department.
  • Talk to your major peer advisor! Upperclassmen who are nearing graduation may have valuable insights into how they’re using your major after college.
  • Connect with your peers—although you share a major, everyone’s path is different. Speaking with others can help you discover how you might want to use your degree.

"I am in College of L&S and confused about picking my major how should I find it?"

“How can I find internships?”

  • Visit the Career Center—they can review your resume, help you find internship opportunities, and conduct mock interviews before the real deal.
  • Explore Summer Abroad Internships through the Global Learning Hub.
  • Check out Handshake, a great platform for finding internships and networking.

“I’m interested in finding a job for next year. Where can I apply?”

  • Attend Internship and Career Fairs. The Spring Career Fair will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the University Credit Union Center.
  • Use Handshake to find on-campus job openings (tip: search “STDT” to filter out external jobs that aren’t on-campus positions).
  • Look into ASUCD job openings.
  • Network! The Career Center offers workshops throughout the quarter on various topics, including effective networking strategies.
  • Consider paid research opportunities—they can be a great way to gain experience while also earning money.
