The Aggie Reader

Am I in the Right Major?

Feeling unsure about your major? Wondering if it's burnout, a one-off negative experience with a class, or a deeper lack of passion for the field? You're not alone! Here are some tips to help you navigate this decision with confidence.

Volunteers needed - Aggie Day 2025

Do you have Aggie Pride?  Do you want to help welcome the next generation of prospective students to campus?  We are looking for volunteers to help with Aggie Day for first-year students and Aggie Day for transfer students.

Aggie Day is our annual campus-wide event where we invite prospective students and their families to campus to learn what life at UC Davis is like.  Student Housing and Dining services will be offering tours and informational resources about living on campus and we need volunteer tour guides and tour rooms for the event.

Aggie Well-Being Champion Awards

Have you had an instructor or TA from the College of Biological Sciences that supported your well-being? Nominate them for the Aggie Well-Being Champion Award by February 16!

The Aggie Well-Being Champions award recognizes instructors and TAs who are particularly attuned to the increasing health and wellness challenges students are facing and are taking concrete steps to support them.

How to Talk with Faculty

Scared to talk to your professor? That’s okay, a lot of students feel that way at first. Keep reading to bust common myths and fears about talking to faculty and learn how to make the best out of office hours!

What are office hours and why should I go?

Office hours are blocks of time that faculty set out to answer student questions about course materials, but it’s not limited to just class-related questions. Your professor is a great resource to go to for questions about future careers, research opportunities and more.
