Planning a Successful Summer
Stuck on what to do over summer break? Here are some suggestions to get you started:
Catch up on Coursework
Summer classes are a good way to stay on top of your major requirements so that you can graduate at your desired timeline.
- Take summer classes at UC Davis.
- Take classes at other UCs through UC Online
- Take transferable community college courses for GE requirements.
- Always check that the course is transferable through Assist.
Internship Experience
You can gain valuable insights on what it is like to work in your field of interest through internship and/or research experience. Look on Handshake to see if employers are hiring over the summer. For tips on polishing your resume and interview game, check out the Career Center.
Getting Employed
A job can help you gain new transferable skills and become more financially independent. A job does not necessarily have to be related to your career. It will still be helpful to your personal and professional development. Look for opportunities on Handshake or on employers’ own webpages.
