Prepare Your Student for Finals and Winter Break

Fall quarter is already wrapping up! Soon, it will be time for winter break. Finals week is December 8-12. Here’s what you need to know about preparing your student for finals week and winter break.

Residence hall closure

Residence halls will be closing at noon on December 13, 2025. Your student will need to be packed up and out of the residence hall by that time. They’ll receive a checklist with further information on what to do before leaving as we get closer. Residence halls will open back up at 8 am on January 2, 2026.

How to Build a Community on Campus

Hopefully, you’re starting to settle into life at UC Davis. To help you feel more at home, let’s talk about how to build a community for yourself here on campus.

Attend Events

Want to watch a movie or attend a silent disco? We’ve got events for you! Attending events is a great way to get out and meet new people.

Share Your Thoughts

Student Affairs is inviting students to participate in a focus group to share their thoughts and experiences. Complete the short form by October 24 to indicate your interest and select a date and time that fits your schedule. All participants who are selected and attend a focus group will receive a $15 CoHo gift card.
Share your thoughts.

Share the Path: Ride Smart, Ride Safe

Commuting on campus is changing rapidly with the growing use of e-bikes, e-scooters and other micromobility devices. These bring both greater accessibility and safety concerns. We’ve seen a fivefold increase in scooter-related crashes in the past 15 months, making safe riding more important than ever. Campus is installing new speed limit signage and markings and will be launching an education and compliance program later this fall to promote safer riding habits.
