Residence halls will be closed during Winter Break and accommodations in the residence halls will not be available. Residence Halls close at Saturday, 12 pm on December 13, 2025 and will open on Friday at 8 am on January 2, 2026.
Student Housing has identified hotels in the Davis area that can accommodate our students’ housing needs during Winter Break. We have negotiated a discounted nightly rate, which the student will be responsible for paying. Availability is limited and provided on a first-come, first-served basis. The rate is $99/Night, breakfast and parking is included.

Big Shift is an ambitious project to replace UC Davis’ steam-powered heating system with hot water generated by electricity, a renewable resource. The project began in spring of 2020 and focused on districts, converting one area of campus at a time. For the 25-26 school year, one of those districts will be near you and involve digging trenches, installing new hot water pipes, insulating those pipes and then restoring the surface that was dug up.
