2024 Energy & Water Challenge

Our annual Energy & Water Challenge is well underway! If you have not already, sign up for the challenge, join your building’s team and start completing actions. New actions are added weekly, and each one of them will be based around sustainable topics like water, energy, waste, and climate. Keep completing actions and take your team to the victory!

There will be weekly prizes for the resident with the most points at the end of the week; Residents and Community Advisors can also get a MVP prize at the end of the competition, and the team with the most points will be crowned champion when the competition ends in February 16.

The Energy & Water Challenge runs from January 22 to February 16. Sign up on the link below:

Waste Studies in the DC this week

The Sustainability team will be conducting the Winter Quarter Waste Studies, where we will be measuring how much edible food gets left behind on the plates and compare the results from our previous waste study during Fall Quarter.

As part of our Sustainability Goals, we want to keep reducing food waste and you can help us achieve this goal with the tips below:

  1. Try to take a reasonable amount of food during each meal – it is always a good idea to grab small portions at the beginning. If you’re still hungry you can always go back for more.
  2. Try A Taste – many menu items can be sampled before you take a full serving, so if it’s not to your taste, it doesn’t go to waste!
  3. Just Ask – ask your server to adapt your dish to meet your needs. Smaller portion? Skip the bread? Not keen on pickles? Just ask!

Join us at the Resident Gardens!

Our resident gardens are open for volunteer hours! Come learn and relax while gardening and polish your plant-caring skills. Look at the volunteer hours below for the Winter Quarter schedule. You can also Join the Resident Garden Discord to stay up on the latest happenings in the resident garden.
