The holidays are practically knocking at our door, and you know what that means—time to get our festive game on! Now, as we gear up for the upcoming celebrations, let’s get our sustainable hats on and dive into some tips to make this holiday season not just joyful but also sustainable! It’s all about spreading cheer while keeping our planet happy.

When you can, look for local fruits and vegetables. Locally sourced foods produce fewer carbon emissions to get to your plate. Additionally, organic foods require fewer harmful pesticides and will not pollute the soil and water where it is grown.

Encourage the use of reusable dishware during gatherings or dinners. If this is not an option, look out for the next best eco-friendly options, like compostable utensils, and avoid single-use plastics that create more landfill waste.

Are you a tea lover or maybe curious about tea making? Join us at the Resident Gardens for this event where you will get the chance to make tea blends a decorate a tea bag holder. We will be using fresh herbs straight from the Resident Gardens. Details below:

Submit your concept for The Sheep Shift mural by August 1 for a chance to win $400 and see your design transformed into a large-scale mural right across from California Hall. The design will celebrate our beloved Sheepmowers and UC Davis’s Big Shift toward a fossil-free future — no mural painting experience needed to take part!
