Garden: Residents gardening at the Segundo Resident Garden

Trash Talk & Planting Week - Sustainability

Quick Summary

  • Let’s do some trash talk and come to the Resident Gardens for planting fun this week

Let’s have a Trash Talk

At Student Housing and Dining Services Sustainability, we love good Trash Talk, and we want you to be part of it too!

In your Res Hall's waste collection area, you will have access to three waste streams: Compost, Landfill, and Recycle.  All residents are responsible for emptying their room waste in the right waste collection area. To find out where the waste collection area is in your building, please check out your building Waste Guide.

Please do:

  • Pay attention to the posted waste sorting signs to know what waste goes on each stream.
  • Flatten cardboard boxes and put in the proper bin to be recycled.
  • Refer to your Residence Hall waste guide for instructions on where to dispose of Household Hazardous Waste, Reusables, and eWaste.

Please avoid:

  • Placing room waste in bathroom waste bin, lobby waste bins, and hallways.
  • Disposing cardboard in waste chutes, as they can pose a fire and safety hazard if chute becomes jammed.
  • Disposing cardboard in Mixed Recycle toters, as they take up too much room.
