Finding Student Jobs

There are tons of ways to get experience and earn income as a student.

By Week 2, you’ve started settling into your classes, and now is a great time to build momentum outside the classroom. Finding a student job is one of the best ways to gain experience, stay engaged, and make the most of your time at UC Davis.

If you’re not sure where to start, you’re not alone. That’s exactly what peer mentors are here for. Peer Mentors can help you explore options, walk through the process, and point you toward opportunities that actually fit your schedule. Platforms like Handshake and resources from the UC Davis Career Center make it easier than you think to get started.

You don’t need a perfect resume or a full plan, just take one step. Browse a few listings, ask a question, or start a conversation. Opportunities build from action, and this is a great week to begin.

Pro Tips:

  • Apply to multiple roles early; student jobs fill faster than you think.
Take your resume and/or cover letter to the UC Davis Career Center to get some expert feedback.
  • As always, don't forget to follow us on Instagram @ucdavisnsp for updates on programs and events!

Ask your peer mentor about their experience with student jobs!

During Week 2 Drop-In Hours, Peer Mentors will:

Guide you through where and how to actually find student jobs, and help you narrow down options that realistically fit your time and commitments.
Show you how to use Handshake effectively and connect you with UC Davis Career Center resources for resumes, applications, and next steps.
Support you in taking action this week, whether that’s setting up your profile, identifying roles to apply for, or building confidence to get started.

This week’s Drop-In Kit includes FREE Mini Mochi Squishies + Stickers + Scantrons and Bluebooks

Check your Peer Mentor’s email for their drop-in hours, location, and details.
