Tips For A Sustainable Moove-In

As you are packing and getting ready to move to Davis, follow these tips for a sustainable Moove-in!
- Removing packaging at home will mean less waste for you to sort while unpacking
- Packing items in reusable containers or bags reduces waste, can be used for storage throughout the year, and can be used for packing again at the end of the year
- Coordinate with roommates to avoid doubling up on electronics like printers
- When shopping for your new home, consider buying used items rather than new
- Bring your reusable items, including a reusable water bottle; we have water refill stations across our Residential Halls to help keep you hydrated!
On Move-In Day, be on the lookout for temporary recycling stations set-up outside your Res Hall where you will bring your empty flattened cardboard boxes and rigid packing foam to be recycled. Visit housing.ucdavis.edu/sustainability/move-in for more details.
A waste guide will be in your room (check your bulletin board!) which will give you detailed instructions, with a map, on where to take your other waste during move-in and the academic year as well as what goes n each waste stream. You can also find the waste guides at housing.ucdavis.edu/sustainability/waste-diversion-guide
